I would suggest just focus on the fifth step alone. It will help not only eliminate stress at that point of time, but also has numerous other benefits - one of them being prevention. 'Avoid' getting stressed :)
Deep breathing...or Meditation, which I feel, is more holistic. Or any related technique thereof.
It is important to pick up one meditation technique we are very comfortable and focus on it. ( Can suggest a few, simple ones to choose from)
Then allow to grow. Guidance will come from within.
