Apple Apps

The Calender on Apple products (iphone, ipad& Macbook pro) has several options to give reminder before event (at event, 5 mts, etc) , or after the same (weekly/monthly/yearly).

It does not have the option to remind during event.
For eg., I am expecting a call from a business associate, between 9-10AM. I do not have an option to remind her at 930 AM or 945 AM, 'hey, I am waiting for your call'!

It could be simple enhancement ?

I Am Living My Dream Right Now

Random Thoughts...

I get very autobiographical, when I start a blog-post, ‘Random Thoughts’! When several thoughts get crowded in my system (don't bother which part of myself - head/heart/mind!), I wish to put it on my blog so that it is off me! Is that not the beauty of maintaining a blog?

From last Friday to till today, it has been perhaps the busiest part of my ‘3rd Innings’! Busy at all levels, physical, mental and spiritual.

On Friday, the thought suddenly hit me, ‘I may be perhaps living my dream now’! It was a very positive thought & filled with gratitude to Divinity. I was indeed living my dream.

That is the case with everyone.
I wondered, if most of us pause to think and acknowledge we are living our dreams ?!
Going through one of FB friend's (slightly complaining) ‘status’ update on FB, left me thinking! Extending my own ‘status’ to others, I was sure, each one of us was living our dreams here & now

If my current ‘status’ is not what I wanted, blame it on my dreams, visualization, choices made, the type of people I chose to hang out with, the emotions I felt, effort (or lack of it?) and of course, the level of passion. I cannot surely blame the world or anyone part thereof for my current status.
But personally, I would like to give credit to all who contributed to the awareness (with gratitude)…

As my batchmates were on their way to our European university campus, for the final session, my mind was with them. The fact, I got busiest during the same period help me to focus on activities on hand and not brood over the inability to travel! In spite of the regular updates on ‘What’sUp’ from many of them :)

·      Got to get out of the urban jungle, with torrential rains thankfully, and spend two days in a campus. The long drive was great. Got to meet few new friends (not FB type!) and also interact with students & staff at the management institute. Particularly the interaction with the students was a new experience. An powerful question from a student was ‘ how to develop the right attitude?’ I wished I had the awareness to ask that question when I was in my management school!
·      Two days with young bankers during the week, back in city. Young crowd with high energy and low attention span. A perpetual challenge to get them listen to me, ‘actively’.
·      Few sessions on the my own campus, on diverse topics such as academics to leadership. Again, a different experience!
·      In between all these, the core-activity of coaching… few very good sessions. Recent confirmation of the Coaching certification was the icing on the proverbial cake!

Among all these experiences, there were several ‘AHA moments’, lot of learning, very inspiring sessions and a few humbling (bordering humiliating) experiences.

I Am Living My Dream Right Now ... crystal clear !

As my batch-mates head home, report to work tomorrow, lot to ponder over and move ahead, with focus, patience and passion. Though Divine Guidance is taken almost for granted…

Blissfully!

Future of Banking : Boring to Exciting !

MBank And The Future Of Responsive Banking | TechCrunch

"Banking is boring... "
One of the last innovations to come out of banking ?? ATM :)
Lot of innovation has gone into creative products, some of which took us down into the financial crisis !!

Here is a Polish bank, trying to be slightly innvoative and creative to make the banking experience at least different.

While the on-line options of most banks are as outright boring, apart from user-unfriendly, at least mBank is attempting to give a new touch & feel. It is built on a very responsive design that uses HTML5.

Compared to the 20K plus banks world-wide, this on-line interaction would be a different experience. And as per their claim, the response has been positive.

Indeed, this is applicable to any B2C experience
Which one of our banks will take this kind of initiative to make banking a little less boring, esp on-line experience ?!

Tell the Customer's Story, Not Your Story | Inc.com

So very true, very often we are clouded by what we want to give and not what the other person wants.
The other person my be a customer, client, partner, business-associate, student, coachee (coaching client).

In my current training assignment to young bankers, they clearly indicated their desire to learn also from videos. If I don't customise, but just stick to "my" PPT's, I am not trying to aim a higher level of training, which we all dream of, in all our endeavours ( but not often we take steps!)

I feel even our political leaders, community leaders and NGO's should ideally take such a holistic view. Definitely possible, though not easy! Ask the Powerful Question, 'What is the Objective?'. The answer will be often obvious...

The 'customer' can be at work/business, but also at home, family and community.
Is that not essence of marketing-communication ?Here it is not manipulative marketing that I talk of.. But at a holistic level.

I am just building on a brilliant thought I got @ WBECS 2013. "all of us are salespersons, always selling something" !

Just Serve The Customer !

Uttarakhand Tragedy My Karma

Ever since Uttarakhand tragedy happened, I have been thinking more of Karmic implications.

Though not 'directly' impacted by the tragedy, it has left a huge impact on me, just as in many others.
The disturbing thought was - 'I was experiencing the news & the impact (though I avoided media reports to a great extend), because of my Karma...'

And I got this story this morning... (slightly paraphrased)
Once a dog came to Lord bleeding from blows. Lord sent His trusted lieutenant to inquire...
The dog said: “I was beaten by a priest with a stick.”
The priest was questioned. He said that the dog always was annoying him by coming across his path.
The Lord asked the dog: “Well, how do you want to punish the priest?”
The dog said: “Make him a manager of a temple.”
Lord replied with wonder: “That would be a reward not a punishment.”
The dog said: “No, I was a manager of a temple in my previous birth. It was impossible not to mishandle or misuse or misappropriate some fraction of God’s money. When he is that manager, he too will get like me this canine birth and perhaps get beaten too in his subsequent birth.”

In fact, not only the dog or the priest, but every one of us are 'lining off' the property of God, for does not all this belong to Him? What do we do in return for all benefits we derive from the property of the Lord?
We should not simply eat and sit quiet. We have to render service to the poor and the helpless in a manner suitable to us.

And save environment on the basis of Doctrine of Trusteeship... An ideal we seem to have forgotten in our mad chase for comfort & wealth!

Are we not 'priests' at the temple of Nature...
