Here is an auto-industry udpate from this part of the world !
Malaysia's opposition party, PKR, riding on the public dissatisfaction over high car prices, have started a campaign for lower levies !!
Private vehicles make up one of the largest components of retail finance.
Car-buyers are forced to avail high loan amount against a 'small/cheap car' !
RM 6 to 7 billion is collected annually from car related levies, customs/excise, etc. That is a critical source of govt revenue.
Is lower taxes the real solution ?
The primary problem is not high taxes, but seemingly an inadequate, inefficient public transport.
